Lime train C160 leaving ENG yard (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

Hi, today morning I visited Nova Granja yard (ENG) about four km from EVP to watch for some news. I found lime train C160 waiting licence to go ahead.  The engineer invited me to drink a soda in a store across the tracks. After twenty minutes the licence arrived and he went back to the train and leaft the yard using the horn many times to my video record.

1) C160 waiting to enter ENG yard;
2) ENG east signal;
3) EVP - ENG lock section (is this the name used in US?)

4 - 5) The train at the border of Vespasiano and São José da Lapa, the town where we have ENG yard;
6) The train stopped near the second crossing level to wait a train ahead to leave the section.

11) Running through ENG.
12) A plate at ENG says call the station ( EVP) to proceed.

13) In the back of that plate, another one say "Call the CCO" (Operational Control Center),
14) This area do not have electric switching machines. All the main keys uses spring to keep the position. This plate is warning about this fact and say "forbidden go backwards";
15) Old grain hopper stored at ENG.

What is the "east signal" for?  what other color does it have?   I assume red means stop if it is a track signal.

Very NICE informative series and video. Great to see a friendly engineer, also like the clouds.

Hi, when we find it red it means the spring key was changed manually, so the engineer needs to go there and change it again if he intends to enter in the siding. In the case of train  C160, it receives licence to proceed on mainline, so the the key was in right position for it. The engineer just went there to check if it was aligned for his train. When the spring key is chanded manually, the SB section is pink in CCO system like in this exemple in the picture below. All the trains going EAST must enter in the yards by the siding, except if CCO give opposite orders. So, if a train needs to enter by mainline,  the key needs to changed manually.
