Date: 08/21/21 15:12 Re: New international bridge links Russian, Chinese railways Author: illini73 Apparently, based on a reading of a (poorly) translated Chinese article on the bridge, it can handle wheelsets of either the Russian or Chinese "standard" gauges. Hence the four rails on the bridge deck as shown in the linked CNN article. It's not clear where the wagon bogies are swapped out, if that's what they're doing. Bridge speed limit is 100kph.

It's in the far northeast of China. Not likely to be a Beijing-Moscow mainline. But they talk about it that way... There is already a China-Russia rail connection with the historic Beijing-Moscow line through Manchuria farther west. I wonder what route they are referring to with the "800 km shorter" statement.
