Hi, yesterday morning I had the chance to see another MRS train with big tires for mining companies running here in town. These trains usually departures FBO yard in Belo Horizonte MG at 3:00 PM and arrive here after 8:00 PM. But this one delayed and left FBO about 6:00 AM, so it arrived here in the morning. I also was lucky to see it stopped in the yard waiting to meet with VLI empty locomotives train L778.

Like the big tire train with lots of units on the point. Also lots of colorful containers on same train.

I know I have seen some of your "big tire" trains in the past.  How often do the come?  And what mine do they go to?

Hi, we have seen big tires coming in these containers trains very often. Most of them pass here at night and are not photographed. I imagine at least one train a month comes with big tires. They are going to EKE yard where the costumer has a shed. Then, they are sent to the miming companies like Vale and Anglo American. Both have big mines around here, like Brucutu mine that it is the largest of Vale mining South system.

They must go through a lot of those big tires, I wonder how often they have to change those tires on those huge heavy haul dump trucks or????

Congrats on your VOTD, very interesting subject.
 

I imagine these tires last an year or less. The trucks and front loaders that usem them are very heavy and work in a very abrasive ground of ore and rocks.
