Today at 10:30 in the morning, limestone and clinker train C334 leaded by BB36-7 732 and 705 lost the brakes in a steep hill between EFG and ETI sidings in Formiga , MG in VLI Limestone route. The train derailed in high speed and the engineer died when the locomotive fell on its side. The second crew was serious hurt but survived.

1 - 3) Units 732 and 705 were the first units of a train with 28 cars and DPU in the middle.

19) In many locations the VLI employees  had a minute of silence and long whistle in memory of engineer Thiago;

Sorry to hear about the terrible derailment with crew hurt and a death. Very sad!

The horn blowing and the train with the black flag
gave me goose bumps.
It was terrible accident and one fhe worst I have seen.

Sorry to see this but thank you for informing us.
The laws of physics are non-negotiable.
You might violate a law or rule and get away with it, but if you attempt to exceed the limits of what energy management systems you have (speed of descent, braking power, train resistance) you will accellerate.  No exceptions.
