The pushers are in a hurry (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

MRS railroad release these videos of speed tests done in its "Ferrovia do Aço" ( Steel railroad) line showing a set of pushers reaching 110 km/hour. They are testing the tracks to set new speed of the ore trains and also to speed  the return of the pushers to their bases.

They really are raising the speed limit from what I saw.  That's about 65 MPH to us in N America.  Lot of dust rising from track used to about 30 MPH???  They probably can not do that  speed on the dual gauge track, right?

Yes, those are broad gauge tracks at mainline. So, in those locations, they do not have narrow gauge inside the groad gauge.

Very interesting test with the high speed and dust flying.

Any concerns about animals and people not accustomed to higher-speed approaches?

I think the new speed to the trains won't be the same as we see in the test. So, I imagine the concerns about crossing levels and animals will be tbe same they have nowadays. MRS trains use to run in good speed here, different from VLI that is much slower.

I noticed the engineer blew the horn more for a road crossing.
