International Railroad Discussion > A fast visit to São Paulo branch - part 1Date: 10/28/22 17:06 A fast visit to São Paulo branch - part 1 Author: pedrop Hi, yesterday 07/10 I was in a area served by MRS São Paulo branch. The tracks were built in the end of 1880's by ancient São Paulo & Rio and Central of Brazil railroads. The tracks met in Cachoeira Paulista station seen on picture 1. That area had a great coffee and milk production and was well developed after the railroads arrival. Nowadays, the tracks belongs to MRS rr, with a good amount of bauxite, steel, containers, sand and other cargo trains.
1) The huge Cachoeira Paulista station waits restoration. I do not know if it will be rebuilt one day; 3- 4) The small Lorena station also need some repairs and painting. There are projects to new passenger services in many lines here at the moment and we hope we can have a passenger train linking Rio and São Paulo again (516 km - 320 miles).
