International Railroad Discussion > The derailment of train C523 (Brazil)Date: 01/11/23 15:30 The derailment of train C523 (Brazil) Author: pedrop Hi folks,
On monday 9th, the VLI rr empty cellulose train C523 hit a rock slide at Km 699+266 of the narrow gauge "Centro Leste" subdivision in the famous Serra do Tigre (Tiger's hill). The leading unit fall about twenty meter into the Tigre river down below. The engineer scapped by the windshield because the doors were blocked and the cab windows have safety screens. He suffered not serious injuries and scapped before the water fill all the cab space. After walk five Kilometers on the rails he met a Inspection gang and they took him to the hospital. The location is accessed only by rail. 1) The knucle of dash 9 #6176 broke when she twisted while going down the hill; 2) The location is a deep canyon with tight rr right of way; 3) The FLF cellulose cars are a few months in operation. Thank you for your contributions. The railwayus of Brazil seem to be very innovative and I admire them for that. I'm very interested in thoae tarp side/curtain side freight cars. Do you know where I could get more information on the cars? Do you know who built them? Date: 01/15/23 17:57 Re: The derailment of train C523 (Brazil) Author: pedrop Hi Greyhounds
Thanks to follow my threads here in TO. These siders cars are made here by Randon and Greenbrier/Maxion. Look these links: • Randon https://youtu.be/2q6vAAuWBgE https://www.randonimplementos.com.br/en/products/railway-wagons/ • Greenbrier/Maxion https://gbmx.com.br/negocios/vagao-ftt/ 10 - 12) Some companies that use siders freight cars here. There are others who use these canvas side cars. They are good for pallets.
