Railfaning in Aparecida at night - part 1 (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

On Sunday 15, I was in Aparecida city in São Paulo state. I met an old friend from my time in the Air Force, that also is an avid railfan. He invited me to visit Aparecida station to watch some train actions. We could watch two trains in fifteen minutes. The weather was nice, with some Summer rains arriving. So we couldn't stay for a long time there. Here are the pictures and video while waiting for the first train.

1 - 2) Aparecida is a famous city in Brazil for catholic people, since it houses the second biggest church in the world. Some folks can remember the thread about my visit to the cable car system there in 2022. Here it is the link:

Aparecida cable car

I also produced two thread about MRS São Paulo branch. Here are the links:

MRS São Paulo branch - part 1

MRS São Paulo branch - part 2

The station belongs to the São Paulo branch of former Central do Brasil railroad (EFCB), now operated by MRS;

3) The lightning system in the roof.

4) The old mechanic system to move the crossing gates still in use in that area. We will see it in operation in the video in this thread;

5 - 6) The old CTC pannel still in use there, but just for crew watching the trains approaching and move the crossing gates.

7) The old safe box. It's too heavy to be stolen, so the thieves abandonned it;

8 - 9) The water tower from the steam days.

16) Nice lights as the train approaches;

17)  The freight is bringing cement and steel from Minas Gerais state to customers in ⁸this branch;

18) The video of train KCP-1130. MRS uses a different prefix code in its system. In my city the train run with VLI prefix system, that is easier to understand.

That's all for today.

Thanks Pedro for a great series in Aparecida. So much to see with good looking old station, water tank, manuel gate system and old CTC board.

Thanks Robert,
Yes I also like the lightning in the backdrop. Sometimes we do nice videos when we think they will be lost.
The dog moved to a better place. For sure he is a retired railfan dog and knows that it is dangerous to stay close to the tracks. In the day after, I had a terrible experience with dogs near the tracks. I was visiting an old railroad station while returning home, when a dog started to bark to me. I went backwards and the dog moved to the tracks when the train was approaching in high speed. In a second, I saw it cut in peaces in front of me. It was a terrible scene.

I always in enjoy seeing your videos, even though I might not make a comment. Yes that sounded very sad about that dog that you had to witness.
Take care and stay safe. There is a saying that says, see tracks expect a train!
