So dragged these tired old bones out to get a couple of shots of the 10 new units en route. this was the last and 5th order. Now totalling 73 units. It is also of interest that "Kiwi Rail has ordered 57 new Stadler Rail Co-Co units, powered by a Caterpilliar C175-16, giving 4000hp.being built in Spain, arriving early 2024.this will spell the end for a number of our old popular "U26C's. here acouple of shots en route to TeRapa. They must be pretty happy with them to order that many in total although switching horses next time. Looks like nice fall weather down there.

Nowadays, Vale is testing a battery powered Joule type unit from China too. Let's see how many they will last. The pictures are very nice. They were Dalian Model CKD-9B, The first lot had poor reliability with availability problems of 50%.the second batch was put on hold until they could sort out problems.they seem to be more reliable today!
