International Railroad Discussion > Railfaning at Sabará tunnel - part 2 (Brazil)Date: 08/08/23 17:14 Railfaning at Sabará tunnel - part 2 (Brazil) Author: pedrop It is interesting to mention that before we reach the tunnel, we passed by the old Marzagão village in the famous Cachorro Magro hill (Thin Dog hill). Belo Horizonte is located in a plateau 142 meters (466 ft) higher than Sabará, so there is a steep grade on the track that links the two cities. We stopped at Marzagão village to watch a grain train going down hill to reach General Carneiro junction to take the EFVM (Vale) system and then start to climb the 2% grade through Sabará tunnel.
