Frepasa Chile Alco and other action
Author: masterphots

1.  Alco RSD20s 1810E and 1805W meet at Chivilingo beach on 12/14/23.  This caught me by surprise so I wasn't in the best position for the photo.  Trains are hauling cellulose between the huge Arauco plant and the port at Coronel.  Loads are eastbound/empties westbound.  The car between the units is for MU,  as well as spreading weight.
2.  SD40 3303W along the beach at Con Con  on 9/27/23.  The unit is former BNSF 6922.  Train is copper concentrate from the Anglo-American Las Bronces mine on the way to the port at Ventanas for export to Asia.
3.  SD39M-2 2352W at same location on 11/16/23.    Train also copper concentrate for export from Codelco Andino mine.

What is that structure on the top of the short hood (nose) of D-3303 (SD40) in the second photo?

Re: Photo #1:  You needn't apologise about the angle... you captured the essence of the Alcos perfectly:  their trademark trucks!

Air conditioner and protective cage.  All rebuilt units have them on the short nose.  No room up top due to loading gauge.
