International Railroad Discussion > A railroad bridge on the road (Brazil)Date: 07/12/24 12:53 A railroad bridge on the road (Brazil) Author: pedrop Yesterday I was returning home from Rio de Janeiro by BR-040 road when I saw a big trailer truck with a steel span bridge for FICO, that is a new railroad under construction by Vale mining in Goias state. Three hours later, I found other two trucks like this with more two spans near Belo Horizonte, MG. I discovered the bridge with use six steel span like this. Here are some pics.

Did you say the new bridge will be six spans like this? It appears that they have welded studs to the top flanges for a deck pour of concrete. Date: 07/13/24 08:32 Re: A railroad bridge on the road (Brazil) Author: pedrop Yes, this is the sixth span to Bridge 1 as we can see in the tag on it.

In the National Road Plan, EF-354 is planned to be 4,400 kilometers long. It runs from North-South, Uruaçu region (GO) to the southeast, cutting through the South of the Federal District (DF) and Minas Gerais, to the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
To the west, the plan indicates the passage through Água Boa, Canarana and Lucas do Rio Verde, in Mato Grosso, heading towards Vilhena and Porto Velho, in Rondônia and passing through Acre to the border with Peru, in the town of Boqueirão da Esperança. FICO will have a length of 1,638 km, starting from the North-South Railway in Campinorte (GO), until arriving in Vilhena (RO). The railway project, which will be carried out in two stages and will involve investments of R$ 6.4 billion, will cover one of the country's most prosperous regions in grain and meat production, but very lacking in terms of transport logistics. The section to be built in the first stage will leave Campinorte (GO), cross the state of Mato Grosso in an east/west direction and reach Lucas do Rio Verde in the state of Mato Grosso. Between Campinorte (GO) and Lucas do Rio Verde (MT) the railway will be 1,040 kilometers long.10) FICO map.
