Drone views of grain train C160 (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

   Yesterday, Sunday 07/21, I went to "Ribeirão da Mata" siding (ERE) at Km 620 to use my drone to get some trains. Unfortunately I could watch only one train running there because there was switching operations in the yards nearby and the trains delayed a to arrived. So I had to return home for lunch time. I could see other trains in EVP yard in downtown later, but those will be shown here in other threads.
   "Ribeirão" means a small river in portuguese. "Mata" means forest, so that area is the valley of the "River of the Forest" as the old settlers called it. That is a farm land nowadays. There is a beautifull cave across the tracks in the siding area. I will show it in a future visit there. The rock wall near the tracks was explored as a source of railroad ballast in the past by the old Central of Brazil railway and its successor RFFSA until the 1970's. The siding also had a station from the steam days, but now only the platform and the water tower remains as a recollection from that golden era. Let's see the pictures.

1) The crossing level near the old station platform. The white building in the background is the old CTC housing;

2) A drone view of the same location with the end of grain train C160;

3) Vale BB40-9Ws 1287 and 1275 emerge from the cut near the siding switching machines leading grain train C160 with 92 cars of soybeam.

10) The video. Since drones do not record sound, I used a small wireless microphone to send the sound of the train to my cell phone kept in the car and later I used an editing program to join the sound to the video. In the last part, I added a music because the train was far from me to get a good sound to the video. I hope you like the result of the edition.

That's all for today.
