The coal terminal here in town (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

Here in town we have a coal terminal to process raw coal and coke and then send it to steel mills and cement plants. The terminal is served by MRS railroad only, in spite of the yard have dual gauge to receive trains of Vale or VLI.
The terminal receives thirty five coal cars a day and also dispach the same amount of processed coal cars. The same train that unload the raw coal is loaded with processed coal in other tracks.
I used the drone to get some pics of the terminal and also pics of the small yard switcher with my cell phone. Here they are.

1 - 2)  A view of the Vespasiano Intermodal Terminal - TIVES, that belongs to Unimetal group;

3) The terminal have only three tracks, numbered 3, 5 and 7 following MRS railroad standards. The raw coal is unload on track 7 by two scavators, by a dradge on track 5 and loaded again on track 3 by a conveyor belt.

10 - 11) A couple of MRS C44i and a C36-7 switching the coal cars;

12) Note the difference from the cars with processed coal on track 7 (close to the building) and the raw coal on track 5.

Great series of photos. The processed coal cars are certainly well loaded. It would make a good model. Chris uk.

Pretty impressive operation, Pedro.  'Looks like a rotary car dumper and a conveyer belt system would be of good use there.

Unfortunately they do not have space for a rotary dumper there. The ore cars used to carry the coal are prepared for rotary dumper machines.

Great bunch, this is green petroleum coke from Petrobras being processed (calcinated) and shipped out to end users and is not actually coal based...
