Night Action in Cabangu (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

Here it is a video from 2015 taken during a railfaning trip with friends in the MRS Centro Line in the "Mantiqueira" hill. We walked along the tracks for eight kilometers from Cabangu (Km 341) to João Aires (Km 351), shortcutting the trip avoiding the big horse shoe curve of Rocha Dias siding.
Cabangu is the name of an old farm where Alberto Santos Dumont, the inventor of the planes, was born in 1873. At that time, his father Henrique Dumond was one of the civil engineers that were opening the Centro Line of the former Dom Pedro II railroad, later called Central of Brasil. Nowadays those broad gauge tracks are operated by MRS railroad.
The farm is a museum dedicated to Alberto Santos Dumond nowadays.
BTW, the old town of Palmira, changed the name to Santos Dumont in 1932, when Alberto died.
This was the last train we saw that night  before we take the way back home.

Good that they blow the air horn a lot to warn motorists.  Sharp cauve and trees really hide the railroad.
