Crane train S580
Author: pedrop

Yesterday 2/15 I was attending a party that celebrated the 130 years of the opening of Dr. Lund station near my home. We had some trains running during the event, but the most interesting train I could watch there was the crane train S580 with the German built Takraf crane. The train was heading north to rescue freight cars wrecked two weeks ago near Augusto de Lima, MG.

1 - 3) Doctor Lund station was opening on February 15, 1895 by former Central of Brazil rr in its Centro Line.

It is rated 125 metric tons. The broad gauge one is rated 200 metric tons.

Pedro,
the station looks like it has been taken care of. Interesting stuff inside. Do you know if there is a speed restriction for the crane.

The crane uses to run in normal speed of the trains.

Just want to say thanks - always very interested in what you post.  I have learned a lot about Brazil, and have spent hours tracing lines on Google Earth that you you introduced me to.
