Great set of pictures that shows a lot to historians like me.
1) In 1979 we had many passenger trains serving the neighborhood and other cities around BH, and also the Vitoria Minas train to Vitoria, ES. Almost all those trains finished in the 1990's, specially when the Metro system started to operate. The EFVM is the only passenger train that remains in BH daily.

2, 3 and 4) The new building of the BH station was openned in 1922, replacing the original one from 1895 that was named Minas, since Belo Horizonte is the capital of Minas Gerais state.

5 and 6) Many freight cars looking brand new in the yard. The car with live cattle is a must since it is the first colored picture of them I have seen, specially in BH area. We also see GM G12 and GE U20C switching in the yard. For sure, BH was a busy place in 1979. Nowadays, the freight just pass by this location. The Metro serves the station and also the daily passenger train of Vale mining serving the EFVM railroad linking BH to Vitoria.

BTW, the U20C 1758 seen in picture 5 was renumbered by RFFSA in the 1980's to 2551 and nowadays it is working in the VLI limestone route.

7) U20C 2551 in Barra Manda, RJ.

8) Somewhere in the Limestone route. Puc by Otavio Fraiz.

Great photos!
The G12 2711 was renumbered 4129 in the 1980's and it was serious damaged in a wreck in Bahia state circa 1992, when the engineer died in the cab.
Interesting to note the cathenary of the old eletric system of the tracks that linked Belo Horizonte do Angra dos Reis, RJ. Thar line had narrow gauge Metropolitan Vickers locomotives seen here in the pics 12 and 13.
