International Railroad Discussion > Newfies still going strong in ChileDate: 05/05/25 08:45 Newfies still going strong in Chile Author: masterphots Former CNR NF210 No. 1420 hauling sulphuric acid at Los Vientos, Chile on 2/19/25. This is the only one in the new livery. The train is about five miles from the export loadout at the port of Mejillones.
The siding is well named as the wind never stopped blowing. 90 MSNM means location is 90 meters above mean sea level. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 05/05/25 08:58 by masterphots. ![]() ![]() Date: 05/05/25 09:35 Re: Newfies still going strong in Chile Author: wp1801 That is desolate country!

Just goes to show that if maintain them modern machinery can last a long time. Since arriving in Chile they've been upgraded continually, 645 power assemblies, latest electronics, etc. They should be around for a few more years at least. Longer than I'll be trackside I'd guess.
