The D70 surely has the 350D beat on ergonomics and feel. The D70 will weigh more than the 350D. The 350D has the D70 beat on image quality though, not just because of the extra megapixels. Check out http://www.dpreview.com/ for actual results with each.

I have both the Rebel XT and the D70. The XT is lighter than the 70 by a pretty good margin. As for photo quality and function they are tied even with a few less mega pixle on the 70. IMHO
