Anybody use a Plustek OpticFilm 7500i AI slide scanner?
Author: highgreengraphics

Has anybody tried the Plustek OpticFilm 7500i AI 35mm color slide and negative scanner? I had planned to fork out the bucks for a Nikon, then this unit is recommended to me by a computer whiz whose opinion I respect highly, and its price point is 1/2 to 1/3 the price of the Nikon. I had never heard of them before, but I guess they have been around for some time, and have done a lot of subcontracting for other manufacturers. Somebody out there must have one, how is it? --- --- - --- JLH

I can't really help with any hands-on assistance, but here is a web site that may help:

http://www.filmscanner.info/en/PlustekOpticFilm7500i.html

It's really a good site for information.

John

According to the latest "Shutterbug" mag, Nikon scanners are no longer in production and support will soon cease. Plustek scanners were the recommended choice.

Though I think Nikon dedicated film scanners must be good, who can afford the price? And thanks for the info on Plustek's, I did a search function and nothing showed up before I asked. Got some additional good reading, so thanks again. I am still wondering if anybody has one. Seems the slide/film carrier method, plus the one-at-a-time loading might be a problem, but you can't fault the price. --- --- - --- JLH

Am staying with my Epson 4870 flatbed scanner w/ICE and 35mm slide adapter that holds 24 slide simultaneously ......... love it......

Here's my review from about a year ago. It's only a 7500i, not the AI. I'm not sure what the difference is.

It's still working, but a digital camera (perhaps ANY digital camera) is still an easier way to get digital images.
