Railfan Technology > San Disk SDHC card problem...

I have a little point and shoot Panasonic...I recently purchased the aforementioned card for it. (8gb)

Neither of my photo programs (ACDSee or Picasa) are able to read this card so I can download the pics from it..

The card reader on my Dell Pc indicates there is a card in the reader (green light)...but nothing works.

Any help would most greatly be appreciated.

Well...LOL...I think I found my answer...

I should have done this first...(D'oh!)

Went over to the Sandisk webpage..and found out since my pc is a bit old (4yrs)...

It's probably not (and it isn't) SDHC compliant

From their web site...

SD and SDHC compliance
If your computer's internal card reader works with 2GB (or lower) SD cards but fails to read a 4GB (or higher) SDHC card, then the computer's internal reader is not SDHC compliant.
This same logic also applies to digital cameras, if the digital camera reads 2GB (or lower) SD cards but fails to read a 4GB (or higher) SDHC card, then the digital camera is not SDHC compliant.

SD and SDHC specifications
The initial SD card specification defined the interface for cards only up to 2GB capacity. The subsequent SDHC specification was developed to provide increased capacity of 4GB – 32GB cards. Computers and other products purchased before 2008 may not be SDHC compatible. Computers and other products purchased before 2007 are not SDHC compatible.

I solved my problem by purchasing an external card reader. Worked just fine.

My SanDisk SDHC came with a free USB adaptor, since the first thing I learned about SDHC cards is that they probably wouldn't work with my older card reader. Wonder if we'll need another adaptor for SDXC?

LOL...I'm sure it did have one...but I probably
tossed it...figuring I have a card reader in
my pc...another "D'oh"!!

I did the same for my older Dell... Works great now!
