Railfan Technology > Fixing finger porn with PhotoshopDate: 07/27/14 05:03 Fixing finger porn with Photoshop Author: donstrack How I rescued a great shot of a UP TR5 Cow-Calf switcher.
Photo 1 is the raw scan of a 120 color negative taken by Dean Gray in about 1973, showing UP TR5 1874/1874B near U. S. Steel's Geneva steel plant in Utah. Scanner is an Epson V700, using Epson's software and film holder. I turned off all of Epson's color adjustment settings. Photo 2 has been cropped, and the color levels tweaked. I used the free Faststone Image Viewer because it is simpler and quicker, but Photoshop works just as well. Photo 3 has had the finger in the photo removed using the Clone Brush and Healing Brush in Photoshop. Don Strack Date: 07/27/14 07:59 Re: Fixing finger porn with Photoshop Author: Vanakatherock The clone/heal brush in Lightroom has helped me out a few times with removing birds or bugs flying across my shooting path. I've also used it to touch up old rail bridges/trestles which have graffiti in some spots.

Mike Date: 07/28/14 19:14 Re: Fixing finger porn with Photoshop Author: chico It's amazing how many "throw away" slides (defect in the film, mount, etc) that could've never been used in traditional (projected) slide shows, that for some reason I threw in a "RIP" box and then later when the digital age came along they were entirely useable..repaired, cropped, etc.
One time at Abo Canyon I opened the back of the camera, fortunately realized my mistake quickly, minimized the crack of light that invaded the body. Well, of course a couple slides had errant light streaks on a portion of the image. Yes, of course, it was fresh warbonnets in the 'final days' of the ATSF era that caught the errant light. Defect slide pile it went during sorting. Then later the slide was scanned, and, after cropping and other post processing, I got this.
