Anyone using a Plustek OpticFilm 120 film scanner?
Author: SalamanderSam

Looking for feedback on the quality of the scans, the pluses and minuses of using it, etc. Is it worth the money?

TIA

I just got one last week and I am still checking it out. So far I think it does a good job, but the software that comes with it (SilverFast) has a very steep learning curve (to me, anyways). I have been using VueScan and Photoshop for 20+ years, so for now I'll stay with them.

It does seem like the PlusTek's scans are not quite as good as the Nikon's in contrast and D-Max, although they are still pretty decent. I'll try comparing the same slide on the 2 different scanners soon and see how they compare.

I got it mainly to scan my old 620/120/220 negatives as well as my Grandfather's old 127 Super Slides and 6cm x 6cm mounted slides. But I have yet to find a mounted slide holder for either format...

I don't have a film scanner but bought a large format flatbed (11x17) Plustech 1180. It doesn't seem to want to work with Windows 10, but the fix reportedly is to get Vuescan software.

I'd be interested in seeing the comparison. I have a Coolscan V and as far as I know it can not do batch scanning, which if why I'm looking at the Optifilm. The ability to do medium format is a bonus as I'd also like to scan what I have.
