It only happens when it's something important.

Well, you have to drive with the windows down instead of AC, or make sure you have enough time to let the camera warm up (dew to evaporate) before you shoot.

Happened to me when I was shooting the FEC in Florida. I learned a valuable lesson that day. Keep the camera in the back seat and inside the camera bag when using the AC.

In South Carolina, allow enough time for the dew to evaporate (no way I'm not using AC from April thru October).
Learned MY lesson here last year on a quick grab shot.

Lived too long in SoCal and forgot what humidity was...

The same problem can occur when staying in a motel/hotel. I first had that problem out in Lawerance Ks. in July one time. I was out the door right about sunrise and it was still in the mid 70’s with high humidity. My camcorder was cool from being in the room all night and fogged up, it took over an hour before it was usable.

Never happened to me, don't know how much you have to turn up the A/C.

We used to have the reverse problem during the winter while chasing steam in China. Freezing cold outside, nice warm (and humid) chase bus.

You must not have humidity then. Places like Houston TX or New Orleans LA this is a constant problem.

Yeah, I discovered the same thing on my first visit to Florida.

My solution was to leave the camera in the trunk of the car where it will stay acclimatized to the outside temperature.
