Tell you what: if you work in a studio, you'll go
for this baby to stay ahead of the competition.

I bought a Nikon D600 when it came out, and it's all
the camera that I'll ever need for trains or grand-
kids. I bought a used D800 for around one kilo-buck,
and it's even better, but over kill. I usually use
the overkill camera because it's got more pixels,
which means a potentially better image. Heh. I have
to do my part to get any camera to shine.

Having too many mega-pixels is like saying my bank account has too much money !   But, yeah, you can blow a pix up to the size of a billboard with that puppy.

I have two really nice Canon bodies that I'm perfectly happy with. I have looked at several Canon mirrorless bodies and I quite frankly don't see anything to be gained. If you go to DP Review (www.dpreview.com) you can find reviews of about any camera out there, including older models if you're buying used. I saw no reviews of any mirrorless bodies that seem to out perform a traditional DSLR for railroad or aircraft photography. Maybe someday the mirrorless will catch up but for now I see no reason to make a change.

This is also my way of thinking Jim.  I see no need to dump my Nikon DSLR cameras for mirrorless cameras.  They suit my needs just fine.  Both are 24.3 megapixels and with the lenses I have I see no gains from going mirrorless.

I use the Panasonic gx-85 and have no problem shooting trains or airplanes. I did have a nice canon kit for awhile but decided to go to the smaller format.

Keep in mind this is medium format, so a much larger sensor size. In the 35mm format mirrorless has minimal advantage especially if you have a large lens inventory; medium format is rarely used these days for railroad photography (the old Pentax 6x7 was a favorite for black and white for some back in the day)

Back in the film days I had a Hasselblad - probably the best film camera I ever had.
At my age my Nikon D90 and IPhone are fine.
It all depends on what you are shooting...
As tecnology evolves I believe phones will become more popular.
Now if we can just get people to use them in horizontal format as God intended...
BTW, mt first camera, which I still have, is an orginal Kodak Brownie Box!

Wow!  This Hasselblad looks like a truly GORGEOUS camera- but I'm afraid it probably doesn't actually exist in my world here on earth.
