You Can Choose To Crop - WE 2662
Author: refarkas

With today's higher MP cameras and modern photo editing software, you can often get a decent cropped image from a scene taken farther away perhaps because you have the wrong lens on your camera.
Here is WE 2662 heading east in Navarre, Ohio on August 16, 2014.
1.) Full image
2.) Cropped image.

A great example. I too have found my Sony mirrorless camera is great at providing images for enlarging and cropping. When out cycling, I don't like lugging the 200 zoom with me, and  hence I'll crop a view to suit the composition I wanted. The photo attached, is taken with the 200mm zoom, but the train is a long long way away. I've cropped the centre of the frame for this result, as I don't have 500 - 600 lenses. chris uk.

Same principle works for videos as well.

Old press camera photographers called this shooting fat.  I've found it often wise to shoot more than I need and then crop to taste in Lightroom, knowing  I will post my photos online rather than in a large-format book.

Yes, indeedee. Sometimes you have 100 mm worth of glass, but 400 mm worth of photo. With a high resolution sensor, you can get good results with simple cropping.

I like my Nikon D3 and D800 full frame . Great for cropping Aircraft photos . the D3 is 12 MP and D800 36MP and on cropping for web use I can't differentiate.
