Bearcat BC125AT Question
Author: NiagaraMike

I have this radio but its stuck. Readout says : Scan Mode All Locked :

I've read the manual several times and can't get rid of that readout and back to scanning.

Any of you folks have this radio and can walk me thru what I have done?

Thanks for any help- MB

Here's some info that says it needs a reset and re-entering of the frequencies, sounds like a major pia to me. Maybe do a similar search and find more info, I used: "Bearcat BC125AT Scan Mode All Locked" on DuckDuckGo, maybe try Google.

btw, this is one of the advantages to using a radio with a computer spreadsheet, nice back up in case something goes awry.

This sounds to me like you have inadvertently done a factory reset on the radio, wiping out all of its memories.  Much more rarely, a short circuit or spike in the voltage entering the radio can also "fry" the memory--in that situation, the scanner is usually dead.  This happened to me on a couple of older Uniden scanners.  My suggestion is to download the programming software for the BC125AT and procure a BC125AT programming cable.  Once you have that up and running on your computer, connect your BC125AT to the computer, then attempt to read the data in the radio.  If it comes up emtpy or corrupted, then you will know that you need to reprogram the radio.  That is much easier to do with the PC software.  Enter the channels that you want in your radio, along with operating parameters, etc. into the software.   Save that file on your PC or laptop, then write that data to the radio.  If, for some reason, the radio loses its programming again, it's a much simpler matter to just connect the radio to your computer and reprogram it.

The BC125AT programming software (free) is sort of hidden on the Uniden website, here is the link where it can be found:  https://info.uniden.com/twiki/bin/view/UnidenMan4/BC125AT
Uniden sells a programming cable,  but I believe that it uses a standard USB-A to USB-Mini cable that can be purchased inexpensively almost anywhere..
