Quebec Gatineau detour train
Author: kgmontreal

As a result of last week's derailment at Terrebonne on their Trois Rivieres sub, the Quebec Gatineau has been operating detour trains over Canadian National's south shore Montreal-Quebec City mainline. Unfortunately for the fans, these detour freights whave operated at night. Until today. This morning a westbound QG freight ran in daylight. It's shown here at the St Jacques overpass in Ville St Pierre on its way to CN's Taschereau Yard.

Nice!

Looks like a big train. I assume they only do carload business and not intermodal, yes?

Best regards,

That's correct. There hasn't been any container business from the Port of Quebec in decades. QG traffic from Quebec and Trois Rivieres is mostly forest products, paper, and cement. Autoracks go eastbound loaded to an autorack terminal in Quebec City.

Perfect paint scheme for the fall color change and a great composition as well. Very nicely done!
