Vermilion, OH

Sun in the morning, and then heavy overcast by late afternoon with light to medium  breezes highlighting the snow from last night and this morning.
First real winter weather pictures. Seemed train activity was slow, but that might be partly hanging out in the cold waiting making it seem much longer than in reality.

1. - 3.  NS 4457 and 4375 barrel through town with the snow flying hauling eastbound intermodal.

4. An eastbound intermodal rides high over the Vermilion River. Power is NS 8093 and 8050.

5. & 6. Another eastbound pounds through town with snow flying led by NS 9630 and 9770.

7. - 9.

The 21T rolls west on the eastbound main with plenty of snow and ice as he heads for the connector to take the NKP west to Bellevue. Power is made up of very cold and very icy NS 9597, 9844 and 1136.

10. - 12.

A quick chase down the NKP line beating them to Berlin Heights for another look at 21T.
He is slowing down for Barrows up ahead and what I did not notice was the headlight of an eastbound he was meeting. Not sure if it was 316 or maybe 32N so I blew that chance.

Oh well, time to go home and warm up !

You captured the feeling of winter very well. The snow kicked up by the train must have been like standing in a blizzard.

Thanks for going out in the cold, unforgiving winter weather to share some excellent shots of railroading in the winter... So we can watch in the comfort of our warm homes!!!!

Great bunch, those first two EBs made for a good snowy tempest as they roared by!
