Santa Fe B23-7 on Canyon Diablo bridge
Author: gcm

Oct 94
Crossing the 1946 built bridge over the canyon (Arizona).
Stone foundations from the original 1882 bridge can be seen to the left.
This place was certainly worth the 4-5 mile rough "rocky" road from the nearest pavement to get here.

Great image and rare to see a single unit.

Quite an amazing catch with the single unit leading.

Great look at an interesting train.  We're certainly not going to see that any more.

Given good care by the BNSF, I wonder how long this bridge could last??

I am a retired astronomer and a non-retired railfan.
The very famous Meteor Crater is not very many miles from this place. And the meteorite fragments found around there are officially called the Canyon Diablo meteorites.
