Last Weekend On the R&N

Last weekend, I finally got back to eastern Pennsylvania to see Reading & Northern #2102 make a round trip to Jim Thorpe.  I hadn't visited the R&N since the weekend before I graduated from PSU back in 2008, so I was way overdue.

1 -  Saturday night in Port Clinton.

2 & 3 - Sunday morning at Reading Outer, about 8:30am.

4 - And we're off and running, passing over Peackock Lock Viaduct.  I launched the drone from a parking lot almost a mile and a half from Reading Outer, and there was no doubt when 2102 whistled off at 9am on the dot.

5 - Passing through West Penn, with 17 cars on the drawbar and not a diesel in sight anywhere.

6 - Tiptoeing across Hometown Viaduct, down to 5mph.

7 - Stepping through Nesquehoning.

8 - Turning on the wye west of Jim Thorpe.

9 - 2102 would lay over for four hours, so I made the trip out to Jersey to see NYSW 2-8-2 #142 on the Belvidere & Delaware.

10 - One more shot of 142.

11 - The Big Show.  2102 marches upgrade at Nesquehoning to start the return trip.

12 - Westbound between Hometown and Haucks Junction.

I had a couple quick videos, but they don't seem to want to attach.  If I have time I'll try again before work tomorrow.

Nice shots and great weather for picture takers.  The 2101 is always good to see, and that little mike looks like it's in its element.

Thanks for the Peacock's Lock Bridge photo. I had the pleasure of seeing it from a boat when the Schuylkill River was still navigeable - about 37 years ago!
Nice collection of small and big steam.
