VIA Rail Cancels Transcona Stop on Canadian Route

On Friday, Canadian National informed VIA Rail Canada that it will no longer allow the public to access CN's property at Transcona, Winnipeg for reasons of railway safety.

This means that passengers on VIA's train "The Canadian" will no longer be able to board or detrain at Transcona and the stop is therefore cancelled, effective immediately. Those passengers who would have boarded or detrained at Transcona are advised to instead use VIA's station at 123 Main Street in downtown Winnipeg, located some 8 miles west of Transcona.

VIA's historic, fully-accessible Winnipeg station offers a full range of services, including reservations, ticketing, and checked baggage.
