VIA Rail Nanaimo Service Disrupted by Bridge Fire

Due to a bridge fire on the E&N Railway approximately 4 miles north of Nanaimo, British Columbia, VIA Rail Canada's passenger train service operating between Nanaimo and Courtenay is temporarily disrupted.

While repairs are being carried out, VIA will continue to minimize delays and inconvenience to its passengers and will operate, whenever feasible, its regular service between Victoria and Nanaimo.

Alternate transportation by bus has been arranged for passengers traveling between Courtenay and Nanaimo, in both directions, until further notice. VIA is working closely with the E&N Railway, the owner of the line and bridge, and will issue updates as soon as the situation changes.
