CN Sells Portion of Canac Inc. Subsidiary to US Firm

Canadian National Railways is selling part of its Canac Inc. subsidiary to Savage Companies of Salt Lake City, but retaining Canac's remote control division which will be renamed Beltrack Corp.

Financial terms of the deal, with is expected to close Friday, weren't released Tuesday.

Canac provides various services for the rail industry, including rail infrastructure, engineering, capacity planning, signalling and consulting services.

Savage, which operates in 26 U.S. states and two Canadian provinces, providing services to its customers in oil refining, chemicals, coal production, electric power generation and the rail industry.

Among other things, Savage operates large bulk terminals for coal, petroleum coke and sulphur.
