NS Coal Train Derailment Reported in Homestead, PA

About six to eight Somerset Railroad coal hoppers on a Norfolk Southern-hauled train derailed early this morning in Homestead, Pennsylvania, some spilling coal and others remaining upright.

The accident happened at Amity Street and East near the Waterfront. No one was injured and the train was hauling only coal, no hazardous materials.

Clean-up crews from Hulcher Wrecking Services' Washington, PA unit were on the scene rerailing equipment this morning. According to reports from the scene, the area will be closed off until around 11:30 ET.
