CN Rail 4-Car Derailment Disrupts Chicago Suburb

Four cars derailed from a CN Rail train traveling through the Chicago, Illinois, suburb of Forest Park at 19:40 CDT Tuesday night.

Police say there were no injuries and that the derailment resulted in no significant equipment damage to any of the involved cars, including a trio of tank cars hauling petroleum. Haz-meat teams were summoned to the derailment site and a small evacuation in the immediate area of the derailment was ordered.

Evacuated residents and business were allowed to return a short time later after it was determined that no hazardous materials had leaked or were in jeopardy of doing so.

CN Rail is investigating the incident, which was delaying some freight traffic in the Chicago area.
