Providence and Worcester Railroad Company announced that its president, Orville R. Harrold, died unexpectedly Tuesday.

Robert H. Eder, P&W's Chairman and C.E.O., is assuming Mr. Harrold's duties pending an election of a President by the Company's board of directors.

Mr. Harrold was also chairman of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce. He had been with the rail freight hauler
since 1973 and had held numerous positions with the company.
