CSX Intermodal has discontinued its service to Union Pacific's Dallas, Texas terminal via the Memphis gateway, effective immediately

Congestion at CSXI's Columbus, Tampa, Atlanta-Hulsey, Nashville, Chicago, and Jacksonville terminals is causing delays. CSXI says that the congestion is due to heavy traffic volumes and slower than normal pick-ups on notified traffic during the holiday season.

These terminals have reached critical capacity levels, slowing throughput and increasing safety concerns at these facilities. CSXI reports that it cannot continue normal operations without an immediate reduction in the number of containers currently sitting at these terminals, and further delays may cause terminal closures and train delays at these facilities.

CSXI has urged its rail shippers and their customers to expedite pick-up of notified traffic immediately.
