CSXT NJ Coal Train Derailment Disrupting Town Traffic

A CSX Transportation coal train bound for the Atlantic City Electric power plant at Beesley Point in Cape May, New Jersey, derailed on a siding near Milmay about 18:00 EST on Friday.

The 75-car train apparently was the second part of a larger shipment that had been split up for ease of delivery to the power plant. A spokeswoman for CSX Transportation said the shipment originated in Baltimore, Md. The track is part of the Conrail shared-assets territory.

State police said five cars derailed. Four came off the track and one turned over, partially spilling its load, according to police. There were no injuries or hazardous materials involved in the derailment.
