Meridian & Bigbee Dumps Eleven Cars in Rural AL

Meridian & Bigbee Railroad experienced a train derailment in rural Dallas County, near Beloit, Alabama on Thursday night.

According to reports, eleven cars of the MBRR train left the tracks at approximately 20:30 CST in the Beloit community, near Highway 22.

Citing concerns that there may have been hazardous materials in one of the tank cars, the Dallas County HazMat unit was called to the scene. The car in question was empty and only contained residue of an unknown material, not determined to be hazardous.

There were no reported injuries associated with the derailment.

Highway traffic was blocked on Highway 22 from Highway 219 to Dallas County Road Two.
