CPR Crews Formulate Plan for Bridge Derailment Clean-up

Derailed double-stack container cars continue to hang precariously above the St. Lawrence River in Montreal as Canadian Pacific Railway formulates a plan to safely remove them.

The derailment occurred last Friday when Montreal, Maine & Atlantic train #2 had a total of five intermodal well cars and one additional boxcar windswept from the rails on the over-water crossing of the St. Lawrence. High winds through the weekend kept crews from safely reaching the wreckage and now the position of the derailment is causing even more problems.

"To derail on that bridge, for most of the people, I think, it's a new event for them and it's a real learning experience for everybody," CPR spokesman Michael Sp
