Rail Link Selected as Operator for Port of San Antonio

The Port of San Antonio, the entity formerly known as KellyUSA, selected Rail Link Inc. to supply the industrial park with the capabilities of accepting rail shipments.

The company will add rail-switching services at its East Kelly railport, giving industrial, distribution and transload customers the ability to move their railcars to and from the industrial park.

Port of San Antonio President and CEO Bruce E. Miller says having rail access is a critical step in opening the inland port -- which seeks to establish the former Kelly Air Force Base as a hub for warehouse and distribution activity.

"Rail Link is very pleased that it was selected by the Port of San Antonio to provide the rail service to the port," Rail Link President Billy C. Eason says. "We are looking forward to the opportunity to help it develop the rail business at the port."

Rail Link has provided rail service for CPS Energy's Spruce-Deely coal plant in San Antonio since 1995. Rail Link provides rail service for industrial customers at 30 locations in 11 states.

Elsewhere in Texas, Rail Link operates at the Corpus Christi Terminal Railroad and has provided rail service at the Port of Corpus Christi since 1997. Last June, the company took over operation and management of the Galveston Railroad.
