BNSF to Construct New Refueling Depot in ND

North Dakota Governor John Hoeven announced on March 9, that the BNSF Railway was investing more than $20 million in a new facility for Minot, North Dakota.

The new terminal will include refueling tracks that will allow mainline trains the opportunity of fueling without having to remove the locomotives from the train. Additionally, a rail car repair facility will be constructed at the site.

BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas says the project will provide a quick way for trains to refuel. He says in some crowded rail yards -- it can take eight to ten hours to refuel. At the new Minot station -- a train should be able to refuel in 30 to 45 minutes.

Hoeven says it will create up to 50 new jobs. And he says building the fuel station and rail car center will mean 35 to 50 construction jobs.
