The New York State Department of Transportation is considering the request of Senator John Bonacic and others not to go forward with a $750,000 grant earmarked for the Middletown and New Jersey Railroad.

The grant was announced last year when it was owned by a former company. It has since been purchased by Chartwell International, which wants to use it to transport waste, initially demolition debris.
