MMA Detours Over Pan Am Railways, SLR

Montreal, Maine & Atlantic's mainline has been shut down in eastern Quebec by rising flood waters and a bridge outage at Scotstown.

According to railroad and media reports, the MMA's mainline between Brownville Jct., ME and Montreal, Quebec was taken out of service after a bridge in Scotstown shifted from its moorings amid flood waters. Melting snow and weekend heavy rains that have lasted into early this week have triggered the flooding a fix may be several days in the making.

In order to maintain traffic flow, the MMA has negotiated with Pan Am Railways (formerly Guilford Rail System) and the St. Lawrence & Atlantic Railroad to detour their daily freights, MMA Job #1 (westbound) and Job #2 (eastbound). The trains are operating on the SLR between Lennoxville, Quebec and Danville Jct., Maine, where they are interchanged to/from Pan Am Railways. The detours are operating between Danville Jct. and Northern Maine Jct., Maine, where they rejoin MMA rails for the trip to/from Millinocket.

The MMA is supplying a trio of six-axle C30-7s for each detour move.
