NS Mainline Restored in Goshen, IN by Late Monday Night

Norfolk Southern service was restored to the railroad's Chicago Line by late Monday night in Goshen, Indiana, following a derailment that saw the double-track mainline and the single track Marion Branch blocked by wrecked intermodal equipment.

Trains were running over a single track that was cleared through the wreck site by 19:00 ET Monday. Crews from Hulcher Wrecking Services and Norfolk Southern were able to restore the single track for service while clean-up efforts focused on removing the debris from the remaining two tracks. The second mainline was restored early on Tuesday morning.

A total of eight intermodal cars, which included a total of twenty-two wells and platforms, left the rails on Monday morning, scattering packages and cargo around the wreck site.
