KCSM Completes Pair of Capacity Enhancement Projects

In March, the Kansas City Southern Mexico infrastructure department completed two projects that have increased capacity between Saltillo and Monterrey, one of the highest tonnage segments on KCSM.

The Santa Maria siding on the Saltillo District was extended from 2,645 feet in length to 9,352 feet. This allows industry switching without interruption to the main line operation. When industry switching is not occurring, full length trains can pass at this location.

In addition, the Ojo Caliente and Higueras sidings on the Saltillo District were connected, creating 3.7 miles of double main track.
