CSXT Appoints Former NS Man to VP/CTO

CSX Transportation (CSXT) announced that David A. Brown has been named Vice President and Chief Transportation Officer, assuming operational responsibility for the railroad's 21,000-mile transportation network and the daily volume of 1,300 trains that run across it.

Brown, 47, comes to CSXT from Norfolk Southern (NS), where he most recently served as vice president-strategic planning. In his 25-year career with NS, Brown held a series of increasingly responsible operating positions, including general manager-Northern region.

"David will provide the leadership and experience to continue the significant progress our team has made in safety, reliability and customer service," said Tony Ingram, CSXT Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. "He is an excellent complement to our operations team and well qualified to help drive continuous improvement through leadership, discipline and execution."

Brown holds a bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis on transportation from The University of Tennessee.
