CSX Transportation Inc. has raised more than $215,000 for five local organizations through its Charity Train, a dinner excursion on historic passenger and dining cars.
The third annual event was sold out for the May 13 trip to Nahunta, Ga., and back.
The organizers and recipients of the money raised are the American Heart Association, Anglewood Inc., the Police Athletic League of Clay County, Volunteers in Medicine and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
"This is a way that CSX is able to give back to the communities that our employees proudly call home," said Clarence Gooden, executive vice president of sales and marketing for CSX and the Charity Train organizer. "We are proud to support these organizations that do so much for so many people."
