I am a retired leo returning to my childhood memories. Born and raised in Euclid, Ohio in the late 40’s. Some of the last memories of my childhood were of steam locomotives heading to and from Cleveland. My dad was a sergeant/Engineer/Conductor in Company C of the 748th Railway Operating Battalion, operating in Tensukia, Burma for 2.5 years during WWII. He passed away when I was a child due to his war connected disabilities. I have been a rail fan ever since. Railfanning, especially of steam, makes me feel closer to my dad. In the 80's I used to fire a 10 Wheeler, the NP328, owned and operated by the Minnesota Transportation Museum, on excursions mostly on the BN. I have shared railfanning with my now adult daughter and son and very tolerant wife! When the kids were young we road many of the steam excursions that were in the mid-west and watched the rest. My basement is filled with a model train layout. My work now being in the past, I am returning to my childhood fantasies. I look forward to sharing my memories.
